Rockwell Student Center

Rockwell Student commons

The Dining Hall has fed Senior School students’ appetites for nearly 100 years. A rebirth as the Rockwell Student Commons will offer more indoor dining space, an outdoor courtyard for dining and events, and a centralized student space to congregate for exchange of ideas and community development.

Renovations to Bayard
and Croft Houses

The new Rockwell Middle School will stand on the site that currently houses the retired McCune Library and Hunt Hall. Renovations to Bayard and Croft Houses will replace lost Senior School classrooms with newer, dynamic spaces for elevated learning experiences.

For Bayard House, the first floor will feature five classrooms, a workspace for up to 12 teachers, and a sizable new lobby.

At Croft House, the ground floor will gain four large classrooms, a sizable faculty workspace, and a patio. Natural light and shared community gathering areas will encourage collaboration and stimulate thought.

New West Gate Entrance

New West Entrance Gate

At the current entrance on the east side of campus, traffic flow will go to the right; Separate bus and car drop-off locations will improve flow and safety.

A new entrance on the west side of campus will connect Shady Side’s Upper School campus to Riding Meadow Road, providing improved access to school grounds and reduced congestion.
